Exotic dancers at a New York City strip club are deserving of being paid minimum wage.
A federal judge ruled the owners of Rick's Cabaret unfairly classified the dancers as independent contractors when they are in fact employees.
A group of dancers sued the club in 2009 saying they did not receive salaries but were paid in performance fees from customers. They were also required to pay the club a fee for the nights they worked.
The ruling continues a trend of judges across the country ruling that exotic performers deserve to get minimum wage, overtime and other job protections.
